Mitchell Main Street and Beyond unveils new logo and promotions

This morning I spoke to Carrie English, the new and first-ever program manager for Mitchell Main Street and Beyond. She and some of her members have been a whirl of activity lately, as you can tell by looking at their Facebook page.

She told me about several new promotions the group is running, and she sent me the organization’s new logo, which you can see with this post.

Here’s a snippet from a story that will be in tomorrow’s paper about those new promotions:

Participants in the Stake your Claim promotion buy $5 blocks — known as “claims” — inside of grids that will be placed on Main Street during Saturday’s rodeo parade. When a horse leaves a dropping on a claim, the owner of the claim gets up to $250 in Mitchell Bucks to be spent at select Mitchell businesses.

Claims can be purchased at the “claims office” — the Rendezvous Emporium, 115 N. Main St. — or from Mitchell Main Street and Beyond members who will sell the claims at various rodeo events.

The Share the Vision campaign includes about 30 downtown stores. Specially designed canvas bags can be purchased for $5 and taken to any of the participating stores over the next year for discounts. The bags can be purchased at some downtown businesses, and more information is available at the Mitchell Main Street and Beyond office at 400 N. Main St.

The raffle tickets, selling for $3 apiece or $5 for two, come with a chance at winning a Nintendo Wii, a barbeque grill or a mini-motorcycle with a sidecar. The drawing will occur Aug. 29.
