Trail King closes Pennsylvania plant

Trail King announced today that it is closing its plant in Brookville, Pa. Click here to read more about it.

The release from Trail King does not say how many people will lose jobs because of the closure. The last I read, there were 101 jobs left at the Brookville plant following 120 layoffs earlier this year. I assume most of those remaining 101 people have now lost their jobs, though maybe some of them will transfer to the other plants in Mitchell and West Fargo, N.D.

Prior to today’s announcement, Trail King had laid off at least 273 people at all three of its locations combined.

  1. That is too bad. I am afraid it isn’t over yet.
How many have lost their jobs at Trail King here in Mitchell?
If they move others here, does that mean they will grow at the Mitchell plant, or will Mitchell’s employees loose their jobs, being replaced.?

  2. According to the last information I received, there have been 117 layoffs at Trail King’s Mitchell plant. That leaves a workforce of 320.

I don’t know for sure, but I strongly suspect there will be no growth of jobs at either West Fargo or Mitchell. I’m guessing there just wasn’t enough work for the three plants, so they decided to close one and split the work between the other two. The work from the Brookville plant is probably necessary just to keep the workers at West Fargo and Mitchell busy.
