Your impressions of the debate

Anybody see the GOP House primary debate last night on KELO? What were your impressions? Are any of the GOP’s three candidates — Chris Nelson, Kristi Noem or Blake Curd — good enough to put up a serious challenge to Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin in November?

  1. There is a serious anti-incumbent undercurrent in the country this election cycle for both republicans and democrats

Any one of the three candidates would give current Representative a good challenge. All three are uniquely qualified to hold the position, and all three bring a different strength to the table.

It will be interesting to see who wins the primary and how their opponent responds.

  2. I noticed while Curd was talking he kept his head turned to the moderators rather than look into the camera-he also repeated his jabs about the other two being career politions a few too many times for me. Chris Nelson looked to be the most knowledgeable of the three and is someone who can give Sandlin a run for her money.

  3. If any of the 3 think they can just go in and reform congress they’ve got another thing coming. That being said if you want a real conservative the choice is Chris Nelson.

  4. I know, it’s a Republican primary race, but there’s another candidate out there who’s going to be on the November ballot – B.T. Marking of Custer. He’s a non-party, Independent, with a few unique ideas. It will be interesting to watch the assured 3-way race shape up after the primary.

  5. It’s pretty obvious that they are pandering to the far right base and when one of them wins they will move quickly to the middle. Right now I am having a hard time picturing any of them representing SD on a national stage. Right now, I would pick Chris as the person that would represent SD in the best way.
