Gubernatorial candidates Dennis Daugaard and Scott Heidepriem are running a typically friendly race for office in South Dakota.
They disagree on numerous issues and displayed their differences during a Dakotafest forum Wednesday. But they also touched on their long connection.
They were frat brothers at USD in the 1970s. When Daugaard was a senior, Heidepriem was a freshman. The Democratic candidate said he used to wash the Republican’s dishes in their long-ago frat house days.
Now, the little brother wants to defeat history, political trends and his former big frat bro to capture the statehouse. No word if a toga party is planned for later in the campaign.
