Does Mitchell need to double the size of its emergency snow routes?
The Mitchell City Council Traffic Committee moved a plan to do so ahead Monday night and the City Council slated it for a public hearing and a pair of votes in March. If the council agrees with Streets and Sanitation Superintendent Ron Olson (and it seemed to do so Monday night), there will be a larger zone next winter.
That will mean more tickets and more tows for local vehicle owners. It also will mean it’s easier for snowplow drivers to complete their work, which ensures emergency vehicles can get across the city.
Is this an over-reaction to a loooong winter? An idea that’s overdue? Another way to hassle locals and cost them money?
Oh, and the title? A reference to this classic “Simpsons” episode:
